Introduced in 2000, the Portugieser Automatic 42 features an open dial design with a power reserve indicator at 3 o'clock and small seconds at 9 o'clock. This version boasts a 42.4mm polished 18-carat 5N gold case, Obsidian dial, and gold-plated hands and appliques. Its refined appearance is achieved through a redesigned case with thinner construction and box-glass sapphire crystals on both sides. The intricately crafted dial undergoes a meticulous 60-step manufacturing process, including 15 layers of lacquer for depth and a special printing method for a 3D effect. The watch runs on the IWC-manufactured 52011 caliber, showcasing circular Geneva stripes. Its Pellaton winding system, reinforced with zirconium oxide ceramic components, provides a seven-day power reserve from two barrels. The watch comes with a black alligator leather strap from Santoni, featuring an 18-carat 5N gold folding clasp.
