The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Mojave Desert features a 41-millimetre case made of sand-colored ceramic. Developed in collaboration with Pantone®, this ceramic color was inspired by the flight suits of naval aviators and the barren desert landscape around China Lake, home to the U.S. Navy’s famous TOPGUN flight school. Engineering ceramic is remarkably light and scratch-resistant, making it the perfect material for a pilot’s watch. The brown dial with subdued indices and numerals and the beige rubber strap with a textile inlay perfectly match the color of the ceramic case. The case back with the characteristic “TOP GUN” engraving, the crown and the push-buttons are made of titanium. At work inside the case is the IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre movement. This mechanical chronograph in classic column-wheel design was engineered with an uncompromising focus on robustness, reliability and precision. It features the IWC-typical vertical dial layout, which places the stopped minutes directly at the 12 for easier legibility. In addition, there is a day date aperture at 3 o’clock. An inner case construction made of soft iron protects the movement from the effects of magnetic fields, and the front glass is specially secured to remain in place even in the event of a sudden drop of air pressure.
